Applying Motherwort (Leonurus cardiaca)
Surrender is a vital part of healing and Life itself. When you reach the point where surrendering is easier than resisting, you are progressing along your path of healing. Healing is not something that is suddenly achieved and then the previous hurt or illness is removed from the record. The idea of being healed signifies that the way you relate to the element of the past has shifted enough that you no longer experience its suffering or dis-ease.
Healing is the unfolding of your entire life and the milestones you arrive to rely on how you relate to the life you have lived thus far. Healing may seem isolated to just you, and yet since it requires the entirety of your life to continuously occur, many important beings inherently become unforeseen, critical pillars to the successes along your path.
I have been thinking about how this applies to conception, pregnancy and ultimately the mystery of the postpartum. To arrive at postpartum, especially for the first time, there is first an initiation that occurs through birth and the celebratory time of meeting your little one. After birth, there is a physiological time when your previous reality rapidly drops off and now here you are with a baby in your arms, a whole new world to acclimate to.
The postpartum time is unavoidable, just like the moment the baby’s head pops through the portal: it’s going to happen. How you approach this inevitability is where the magic happens. This is when the principle of surrender can shift the outcome for the better. Relax, become the Queen of ease and accept what is with complete openness.
This isn’t to suggest that you become passive to absurdity or evil; this is about highlighting the level of adaptability that can be achieved when reality is surrendered to, not ignored, not run from or avoided with coping mechanisms. You become empowered when you directly look at the moment and see it for what it really is.
Surrender is like the water that flows down the creek and through the rocks and pebbles. There’s no friction, no holding back, no moment of hesitation… the water goes where the water is going and each drop holds the mission of the entire stream. There is relief, fluidity, and coherence in a creek that just keeps flowing. Perhaps a hurt or illness begins to arise simply because surrender is missing where it could otherwise be the immediate panacea. Sometimes, it’s senseless to swim upstream while other times, it is worth every possible struggle. You have to determine the stakes and decide what you’re willing to gamble in the process.
Women can walk with an immense amount of power when they are in a state of calculated surrender. In my imagination, I hold the vision of the Warrior Queen archetype whose role is to emphasize the message of the King. She is humble, intentional, and as clarifying as the sharpest sword. When she speaks, everyone listens and she has the total respect, trust, and admiration of her King. This warrior Queen never usurps the authority of her King… her purpose is to amplify his rule with every word and every action. She is in calculated surrender.
To me, it seems evident that for her to achieve this level of clarity, her principles must be concrete in virtue yet she is yielding to what is. This is a woman in undisturbed birth, for example.
The Warrior Queen is looked to for her intuition, sight, and attuned senses. The King needs his Queen in order to rule his empire with balance, pragmatism, and holistic strategy. This is symbolic of the functional outcome that is possible when a woman supports others from a place of service.
Since being a woman is second nature for the Warrior Queen, she uses the inspiration of her King’s character to guide her into a coherent self-expression that wholeheartedly supports his initiatives. Think about how the archetypes of King and Queen can be used for good in this world; how this dynamic and polarized mutual relationship can impact families, communities, and entire local economies. Power couples know their roles as King and Queen.
Your value as a woman is inherent, and you will be sought after, looked to, and deeply respected when you act based on your efforts of self-refinement in the spirit of serving others at your absolute best. Your emotional capacity is part of what informs your power, and yet, to act strictly from an emotional place impacts your effectiveness. I’m trying this in my own life. My goal is to use the inspiration of the Warrior Queen to approach my life with humility, calculation, and clarifying energy to quickly dismantle the chatter of the moment.
Attending to what is really going on here and now is an inspired process that requires intentional use of both male & female powers. It’s the spiritual work of every second of every day. You are in command of your contribution to now and the more balance you bring to your behavior, the greater your impact will be.
When you carry yourself with strength, confidence, integrity, and discipline, you make space for the needs of others… you become of service to the mystery of Life, and your gifts flow more fluidly to the world around you.
It’s a vulnerable process, to be so exposed and share openly with others, but the Queen knows that in surrender and acceptance of what is she gains the clarity to protect herself against truly imminent danger, if need be. She can read the room or situation at hand with confidence and calm assessment.
This is an example of how a woman can exist when she is full of personal power. It’s ultimately a graceful act. The more time you spend alone with yourself, the deeper you will go into the mystery of your womanhood and the more ease you will find there.
Knowing where you end and another begins is a lifetime art that can yield less stress, conflict, and relieve you of any lingering perceived burdens you may carry. The truth is, you are not responsible for the outcomes of another person’s path. For example, as a mother your duty is to care, nurture, guide, and foster… your duty is not about control. This should bring a sense of ease, ease that ultimately encourages you to love more deeply without attachment to the result. Acceptance, surrender, ease… all the while having the courage to call bullshit in the world.
Being the woman who heals herself involves an intimate process of letting go. In the space that is left by all that you surrender, you will find an immense openness that finally allows your Life to flow with less resistance. An empowered woman is one who easily lets it all go… who doesn’t cling but rather releases with love, trust, and understanding of the larger unfoldings at play here in this realm. Each month you release, you let it all flow, as is your true nature. You become the woman that silences a room when she speaks, because your expression is selective, purposeful, and intentional. You arrive there by transforming yourself through the choice of surrender and acceptance.
