Down For The Quest | Vital Roots 010

How are you feeling today? What’s been on your heart and mind? Are you endeavoring into a deeper layer of yourself, striving for a big goal or anticipating an important life event?

Women are warriors. Yes – there is a war afoot… it’s spiritual. Being that women are inherently connected to the mysterious, spiritual force of life through their wombs, women are responsible to embody their warrior selves to protect the gift of Life we’ve all been given. Whether you grow life in your womb or not, you’re the current expression of your maternal lineage that holds the thread to all that has come before… and the potential of all that is to come. That is woman. Womban. A womb can be a life giving portal; a womb can be a passageway to death. Nothing that flows through the womb is guaranteed for any of us, and as such, women are tasked to learn how to be the keepers of the spiritual pursuit, the spiritual battle and greater mystery that is a human life. Simply put, what’s going on here in this realm is not defined by what you see every day… there is so much more that needs consideration, support, acknowledgment, and protection from the woman warrior.

As you walk the path of the warrior, womanhood, perhaps even motherhood, and inevitably, the beyond, it will be important to find a way to anchor in what is most real, vital, and coherent for you to stay the course. Being a woman has its ebbs and flows, some times more dramatically than others, and one thing is for certain – you are a womanly ocean. Yet, you must drop your anchor or you will lose sight of the shore, your destination, your goal. With your life unfolding constantly and the grand mystery revealing itself more every day… who are you? What is your code of ethics and how will you show up when the world seems to be falling down?

Will you hide away as the bystander or will you liberate Truth with your words, your actions, your art, your passion, your courage, your dignity?

It is easy to love yourself, others, God and Life itself when the day is coherent and lacking friction… yet the great character building challenge is to love wholeheartedly when you are frayed the most. In my experience, this quest yields the most profound quantity of humility as I continuously realize that no matter how well I outline myself on paper, I can easily fail in my response to the moment. Generating, storing, and utilizing courage is the day to day practice. This is what being human is about: to fall down and get back up… applying oneself routinely, among the maze of mirage and distraction; being human is about what is found in the required process to maintain focus on the road ahead all the while knowing the road inevitably contains many more falls and opportunities for redemption.

The state of the heart is the state of the soul. The mind will play tricks on the heart to influence how the above mentioned process unfolds. Your power is always present, here and now in your hands… here and now you are graced with the ability to shape Life… through your words, thoughts, actions, energy, and intention.

Women need to remember their warrior nature… raw, honest, attuned, intrepid, discerning, immutably connected.

Even if you don’t necessarily see yourself as a warrior, you are walking a path that has never been walked before and this requires all of your courage. Life is very routine during some seasons and phases that I can find myself easily taking it all for granted. My heart beats and I don’t have to think about it… so much of my physiology is like that, yours too. The world goes round in immeasurable ways without your effort. So although you aren’t thinking about how much courage it takes to simply get up and live another day, you’re spending courage like your life depends on it.

This is pretty similar to how your heart beats without a thought… you take a step and there in that step lies your ultimate, total trust. It’s not a conscious thing, but you somehow trust that you can go forward. To seek health and your highest, unique, radiant expression is a noble quest in this whirled that largely rewards vanity and facades. Authenticity is beautiful and as a womanly warrior, one of your most reliable, required strengths.

My favorite story is “The Little Prince” and one of its most favorite quotes goes like this:

“One can only see rightly with the heart, what is essential is invisible to the eye.”

It always reminds me of the powerful visionary capacity of the heart. To see another is to see beyond the physical, to look past their skin and into that mysterious place where they truly reside. Try eye gazing with someone you love. They are in there.

Authenticity is like that; you could say you are authentic when you are not donning a mask of persona or costuming your physical body. Yet the power behind authenticity radiates from that place, where you truly live… that place in there. Unedited. Pure. True. Attentive. Indestructible. To be your warrior self, walking an uncharted and wholly unique path, living authentically is a form of God’s armor. Interesting how armor is similar to the Spanish word amor, love. God’s armor (love) keeps us strong, fortified, and protected in this realm of unknowns. This armor is given freely so you can show up perpetually encouraged to tend to your Life and the continuum of all of Life with purpose.

These times we’re living require the warriors to step forward.

Every day holds the potential for you to grow closer to your narrow road, every choice and every action lived awake and alive. Every day is an opportunity to acknowledge your armor with grace, strength, and gratitude. Health is a state of being garnered beyond the physical. Health is what you receive by being a warrior woman, courageous and down for the quest.
