Know Thyself | Vital Roots 007

One of the most useful shields you can develop is an unshakable connection with who you truly are. Know thyself is a critical spiritual axiom that reveals how an understanding of one’s unique character can transform personal development and the way you interact with your Life.

How do you make choices and decisions? What is your framework to ensure you make the best possible decisions? My husband often reminds me that we really only have two routes forward for any decision we have to make: easy vs. right.

There is an unavoidable feeling that tugs at the gut and pulls on the heart guiding you to know what is right and what is wrong. Surely this is a perceptive skill that is cultivated, inspired, and encouraged over time as you develop and expose yourself to different life experiences.

To know thyself puts you in a position where you have developed a strong connection to who you are – what makes you tick – your preferences – and how you choose to live according to these truths… living becomes a fluid expression of your heart and character… you know what you like and you no longer hesitate to communicate yourself to others.

Authenticity comes from knowing who you are and what you’re all about. When you choose to live according to these facts of self, you shine like the one-of-a-kind light that you are. One of my favorite resources for exploring the human condition is erowid.org – an educational platform for cataloging the impact of psychoactive substances on human beings. One of the sections of the website is the ‘experience vaults’ and the header to the section says,

“You cannot deny the experiences of others”

This is why authenticity is so potent, powerful, and important for the times we are living. When you are authentic you become undeniable and extremely attractive. Your undeniable nature sends ripples to unknown lengths.

Someone who is being honest with themselves simply cannot deny you when you are authentic; it is admirable, desirable, inspiring, and motivates others to know thyself. This is the mission and guide always calling your name to help you back on to the road of life.

You are born with an entirely unique fingerprint, an intricate design of unfathomable proportions. Why do you have a fingerprint, if not to discover your exclusive journey and the imprint you are to have on the physical realm?

It is a treasure map of sorts.

To know who you truly are, you will be asked to learn humility, forgiveness, discipline, courage, discernment, and integrity, among much else… To know thyself is an inherently virtuous endeavor, one that has many clues and passages that require your attention.

This is the cultivation of the human spirit and the principle initiation for the spiritual mystery preparing you for what comes after the physical. To be authentic, to be unshakable and undeniable fortifies your spirit so you can be a warrior in this life and the one that may come after… It’s time to decode the story of your fingerprint…
