Big topic incoming.
I have been reflecting on the spiritual nature of this physical existence deeply every day recently. Being primarily focused on what is occurring in the non-physical realm, in parallel to my perception of the physical realm, has shifted my perception of Life drastically. I’m really loving this way of being in tune with reality, the unseen, and our forgotten, occult history. Sometimes my hormones take me on a ride and this incredible, spiritual perspective becomes a bit foggy – but when I am in the clarity with it I feel so alive and unstoppable.
My mind is very open and I’m not afraid to question the status quo, an aspect of who I am that has definitely been a threat to others in positions of ‘authority’ throughout my Life. In the early spring of 2020, my husband and I had just bought a gutted ambulance to convert it into an off-grid travel rig with the intention of exploring a lot of North America.
Well, that plan quickly got diverted and we received an immersion into the real reason why we bought the ambulance – so it could be our oasis and save our lives as the whirled went maximally mad. We weren’t tied to a single geographical place and while many people were afraid to enjoy the natural world, we had it all to ourselves.
One of the nights we were hunkered down in the wilderness, I remember starting to piece together my budding interest in motherhood and the spiritual implications of the current OBGYN practices tragically affecting women and the innocent unborn / newborns.
Do you know the average c-section rate in the US and Canada is 30% (2014, so you can estimate we are nearly 40% by now if not more). At minimum, 1 out of 3 babies are not given the opportunity to pass through the birth channel (canal), the portal, and are deprived of the sacred initiation of receiving precious information from their mother as well as the beyond place from which they come. The birth channel, quite literally, shapes us into who we are and is the doorway between the nourished, protected, and safe realm of the womb into the physical.
I view this rate of c-section as ritual abuse on various levels. Medical emergencies do occur of course and though cesarean isn’t always the necessarily solution, its usually what happens. C-section is on its way to becoming more normal than vaginal birth… yeah, read that one more time.
Let’s get into it.
Cesarean is not only normalized at this point, it has become culturally preferred by the main stream. While it is hard for me to access this demographic and put myself in their shoes (like, how could you ever become this estranged from your nature?), I also have to remember I chose birth control for 7 of my prime maiden years… more on that another day.
On the surface, it is clear that the normalization has been possible largely because of the spell of convenience. We’re at the point now where OBGYNs are scheduling women for cesareans, writing off the reason under some kind of useful excuse: “high risk” in all its various forms.
This is about turning a spontaneous, physiological process that operates under no time constraint and forcing it to fit within a timed structure. This is about controlling a woman’s most powerful and sacred rite of passage. Yet, it is not only the woman who loses here, the baby does too. Empirically, it is known that the birth canal supplies a baby with critical microbial protection and information. There is a deeper non-physical impact that the process has on an individual that is not quantifiable. Birth is not only encouraged by a woman’s physiological process, it is driven by the baby and the unseen.
While some situations merit emergency surgery, any cesarean will leave both the woman and baby with various wounds that will ask for healing at some point later on. As I started to study the current ‘schedule’ of ‘care’ while dreaming of my first pregnancy, I became passionate about how wrong everything seems. This time of isolation, alienation, and retreat gifted me a certain clarity of sight that cannot be taken from me. Digging into this topic completely dismantled the house of cards of society in my mind and led me to some of the biggest questions I could ever ask.
The trespasses of medicalized birth are not exclusive to c-sections, of course.
There is so much to unpack on this topic… it will happen over time as I publish more on Vital Roots.
One important thing I will mention now is that during this time of research, I started to notice one of the most common threads I have heard from other peoples’ stories: the thread of not good enough.
This thread alone encouraged me to wonder just how significant the process of gestation, birth, and integration to the Earth realm really is for human beings. Why has this otherwise completely autonomous, physiological experience, become one of the most controlled and medicalized industries known to man? This is a topic that truly affects all of us and has massive implications for the future development of humanity.
The pieces of my perspective have come together in such an auspicious way that I not only see the practical plane issues of women’s health ‘care’, I am seeing the grave danger both women and the newborns are facing at a pace and scale that is dizzying. One of the most important branches of society’s health has completely lost the plot.
It is clear in so many ways that we are in the midst of a time of inevitable change. The women who are called to cherish the Truth of Life will realize the coerced inversion of their most sacred powers and rightfully reclaim them.
What will change for us and all of creation when the entire process of bringing new Life to this realm is held with the utmost awe, respect and care?
